About the event

We meet at 9:45 a.m. at the Zuni Visitor Center and Zuni tribal member Kenny Bowekaty guides our visit to the Lookout Tower, Badger Springs petroglyph site, and Hawikku. After lunch (on your own) we accompany Zuni tribal member Shaun Latone to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church to see and hear an intepretation of the life-sized kachina murals painted on the upper nave walls by Alex Seowtewa and his sons. The day concludes around 4:00 p.m.

Badger Springs is a drive-up site but once there requires walking on uneven ground to the petroglyph panels. At Hawikkuh we circle the archaeological site on an improved trail. Climbing to the Lookout Tower is optional, at your discretion.

For lunch at Zuni we will recommend local options or you can bring your meal, and everyone is welcome to join us inside or at a seating area outside the visitor center. There are several hotels…
