About the event
If there were awards for gain-without-pain trails, La Vista Verde would be a formidable contender. In the space of a mile and a quarter this trail offers petroglyphs, frequent sightings of bighorn sheep, spring flowers, and sensational views of the Río Grande gorge. The road to the trailhead is also exceptionally scenic.
The trail is generally rated as easy. It is flat, with the exception of a brief rocky ascent on return to the parking area, and the total roundtrip distance is 2.5 miles.
Profundo hikes are conceived as quiet outings rather than guide-talk experiences. Income from the hikes supports Profundo’s heritage preservation initiatives.
