A TALK, DEMONSTRATION, AND PERFORMANCE BY LONE PIÑON
AT SAN ANTONIO CHURCH IN CÓRDOVA.
Lone Piñon, a string band of traditional New Mexican music, offers a chronological performance of evolving musical styles, together with accompanying explanations and instrumental demonstrations. The event is an exceptional opportunity to hear New Mexican roots music within the cultural context that fostered its emergence and development.
After the performance the audience will have the opportunity to closely view the church’s extraordinary altar pieces by José Rafael Aragón, which were recently conserved by santeros Victor Goler, Felix López, and Jerry Sandoval. The principal conservator, Victor Goler, will be present to guide the viewing and answer questions. Information on the conservation is here and here.
