FEAST DAY AT SANTA TERESITA (Past Event)

Your ticket purchase supports ongoing maintenance of Santa Teresita and includes music by EL TRIO LATINO; burritos and tamales; water and soft drinks; and a talk/tour of the interior restoration by mayordoma (caretaker) REBECCA MONTOYA at 4:00. Children are admitted without charge with ticketed adults. The event ends at 5:00, but everyone interested is welcome to attend Catholic mass at 5:30 and to participate in the procession afterward.  

SCENIC ROUTE 

Santa Teresita is located north of Mora on Route 434 at mile 8.3. If you have time for a drive past other historic churches and through spectacular landscape in fall colors, you might enjoy the alternate route below.

From Las Vegas, NM, take Route 518 north approximately thirty minutes and bear right on Route 442 north at La Cueva. You will see the historic mill on your left as you turn, and a moment after the store on your left and the cafe on your right you will see San Rafael mission church on your right. Continue north on Route 442 about five miles and make a left to Lucero on an unmarked dirt road. (Do not drive on dirt roads if they are wet.) There are no-passing signs immediately before this turn. Shortly after you will see Santa Rita mission church in Lucero. Continue on the same road, known as Coyote Road, and you will soon enter a widening valley with rimrock cliffs above Coyote Creek. After approximately four miles from Lucero make a left onto an unmarked road; there is a log-look house with two dormers at the turn. Continue about a mile after the turn until the road ends in a T at the paved Route 434. Turn left and about a mile later you will see your destination, Santa Teresita mission church, on your left. The entrance to the parking area is before the church.
